Happy New Year from Charles Dickens

The Chimes - A Goblinstory

“So may the New Year be a Happy one to You. Happy to many more whose Happiness depends on You! So may each Year be happier than the last, and not the meanest of our brethern or sisterhood be debarred their rightful share, in what our Great Creator formed them to enjoy.”

  1. Just rec’d a note that you’re following me (Thank you. You’re my first non-required visitor. The others sit in groups of 30 and stare desperately out the window.) and then found your wonderful blog post ending with this sentence: “I’m not a good judge of my own work, but it feels purple.” One of my blogs is called Links from the Purple Chair (http://purplechairhelp.wordpress.com/) and your sentence just cracked me up. I think to create purple sentences would be the ultimate.

I’m doing the wordpress prompt a day thing, too. If you want to read mine it’s at http://todayswriting.wordpress.com/ My only goal is to be consistent and have a place to (hopefully) write honestly. When you are a teacher there are always 210 mothers looking over your shoulder.

I REALLY like your writer’s voice, by the way. I don’t know if you enter contests, but I am creating a gigantic list of writing contests on the todayswriting blog. Feel free to dabble. It’s not finished yet but January is.
